Sinotto, AMALAYER, 2012

What do I say? It’s been few months since I last wrote anything. And oh, it’s Xmas. It’s almost year-end and 2012, has undoubtedly been a social and political circus. So let us talk about some of the recent issues that have shaken our little worlds.
SINOTTO. “Imitation or copying is the highest form of flattery,” so says Sen. Tito Sotto. The quotation is apt for the senator’s very controversial year- from actively objecting the RH Bill, reconciling with Sharon and Kiko, to a plagiarism rant by US blogger Sarah Pope, to another copying issue with late JFK. What a year, indeed for Tito, who also celebrated 33 years of Eat Bulaga— which now has an Indonesian Franchise. At least a franchise is always credited to its original.
#AMALAYER. It didn’t take an educated person to know how this video took the country by storm. While a girl having tantrums in an LRT terminal is ordinary, what really amazes us is how this AMALAYER girl intimidates the security, claiming she is in fact, an educated person. What? I mean, look at you. But I also sympathise with the girl who claims she lost her privacy and was cyber-bullied. Unluckily though, once it goes viral, it’s there forever. At least the girl has been trending for days, and she added a new word to the Filipino slang dictionary. #Historical.
EMO. A recent study by Gallup revealed Pinoys are the most emotional people on Earth. It’s obvious. And Singaporeans were the least likely to show how they feel. Interestingly, the countries are also at the extremes of progress, Singapore on top and PH somewhere down. Could emotions actually have direct effects on financial standing? Just asking.
